چکیده

Control by eddy current is one of techniques that’s very used in nondestructive evaluation of materials .These processes find an application significant in the determination of the mechanical and metallurgical parameters of materials. The object of this work is to carry out an analysis of the residual stresses in the material created by external solicitations and analysed by eddy currents as a non destructive testing method. Measurements by the eddy current techniques were taken in the critical zone of specimen. The analysis of the eddy current results will be compared to the results obtained by the traditional methods (X-rays diffraction...) in order to determine a relation between the non-destructive tests and destructive .This work offer the possibility of evaluating microstructural An NDT eddy current is very significant in the microstructures evaluation. We will study the behaviour of the impedance and the phase on the various solicitations applied to materials. It is possible in the future to determine the life time by analysis of critical zone in the material by eddy current methods

Design of Nondestructive System for Hardness of Carbonitrided Steel Parts ‎Using Eddy Current Testing Method: Case study on the Tappet Parts

In this paper, a non-destructive eddy current test system was designed to evaluate the surface hardness of the carbonitrided steel parts. For this purpose, various samples of the tappet were used after the surface hardening and grinding operations as control samples and, if necessary, were subjected to destructive and non-destructive tests. Microstructural studies were performed with a microsco...

Eddy Current Assessment of Near-Surface Residual Stress in Shot-Peened Nickel-Base Superalloys

It is shown in this paper that, in contrast with most other materials, shot-peened nickel-base superalloys exhibit an apparent increase in eddy current conductivity at increasing inspection frequencies, which can be exploited for nondestructive residual stress assessment of subsurface residual stresses. It has been found that the primary reason why nickel-base superalloys, which are often used ...

Eddy current residual stress profiling in surface-treated engine alloys

Recent research results indicate that eddy current conductivity measurements can be exploited for nondestructive evaluation of subsurface residual stresses in surface-treated nickel-base superalloy components. According to this approach, the depth-dependent electric conductivity profile is calculated from the measured frequency-dependent apparent eddy current conductivity spectrum. Then, the re...

Numerical method for calculating the apparent eddy current conductivity loss on randomly rough surfaces

Because of their frequency-dependent penetration depth, eddy current measurements are capable of mapping the near-surface depth profile of the electrical conductivity. This technique is used to nondestructively characterize the subsurface residual stress and cold work distributions in shot-peened metal components. Unfortunately, the spurious surface roughness produced by the shot peening proces...
